ANSWERS

1. This was once the concession stand for the Monticello Speedway, which was located where the Monticello Christian Church now stands. The Speedway was built in 1950 and was closed in 1955. The building has since been torn down.

2. There was a harness racetrack at the Wolverton farm on Chalmers Road some time ago.

3. There was a horse racetrack located on the west side of Monticello in 1878. The Monticello Turf Association ran horses there. Another horse racetrack was located across the Tippecanoe River from Monticello in the late 1800s. The area is now known as East Monticello.
