White County May food inspections released

May 1 • Family Express #45, Monon: 1 noncritical, expired Campbell soup products (prepackaged), discarded that day.

May 5 • Best Western Plus, Monticello: 1 critical from inspection on April 24 – operating without a permit (breakfast) denied access to back kitchen. Revisit April 25 and only serving prepackaged breakfast sandwiches as advised. Inspection on May 2, permit denied due to under construction. Inspection on May 5, permit issued.

May 6 • Mi Pueblito, Monon: No violations this inspection.

May 7 • Agave Azul, Monon: 3 noncritical violations – all product in walk-in coolers must be dated and properly covered, ice machine storing personal drinks and ice scoop and meat being stored in 3-bay sink improper thawing, all to be corrected that day.

May 9 • Family Express, Brookston: No violations this inspection.

• Rural King, Monticello: No violations this inspection.

May 13 • Pit Stop Pantry, Monticello: 2 noncritical violations – outdated product being sold 1/2 off, some of it needs discarded (perishables), firewood being stored inside store needs to be kept outside, both to be corrected that day.

May 15 • Jackson Street Pub, Brookston: New owners, No violations this inspection.

• Dan’s Fish Fry, Huntington: No violations this inspection.

May 16 • Subway, Monticello: 2 noncritical violations – hair of employee is not properly confined, needs to be put up; ice machine white guard has buildup of debris; both to be corrected that day.

May 19 • Main Street Station/ Friendly Market, Monticello: 2 noncritical violations – Pepsi ice dispenser machine needs cleaned, product on floor of reaching cooler, needs to be 6” off floor, both to be corrected that day.

• Main Street Station, Monticello: 5 noncritical violations – ice machine in back storage area has buildup of debris on the white guard, Pepsi and Coke dispenser machines have buildup of debris, small refrigerator behind food prep area needs cleaned and no sanitizer bucket provided, all to be corrected that day. Large vent above food/pizza area needs cleaned to be corrected by one week.

• Sandbar Restaurant, Monticello: Follow up inspection of kitchen area and food deliveries. Staff in process of food preparation. All product is properly labeled and dated and ready for use. All equipment and prep areas are cleaned. Outside and inside seating areas are clean. Final inspection: No violations. Permit issued.

May 23

• Sammy’s Tacos (food trailer), Hammond: No violations this inspection.

• AJ’s Petroleum, Monticello: 1 critical violation – no hand soap by hand sink, to be corrected that day. 1 repeat violation: ice machine in back white panel has buildup of debris, to be corrected that day. 5 noncritical violations – limited access to walk-in cooler, items on floor must be 6” off the floor; bathroom needs cleaned; mops being stored improperly; two hot food unites up front (entrance) need to be moved to back counter; all to be corrected that day.
