Halloween Trick or Treat hours and events
Brookston: Halloween, Friday, October. 31, 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Burnettsville: Trick or Treat Saturday, Nov. 1, from 6 – 8 p.m.
Chalmers: Trick or Treat Thursday, October. 30, 5 – 8 p.m. The Town of Chalmers will host Trunk or Treat on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Sts., and on 2nd St. in front of Chalmers Community Church during Trick or Treat hours, serving free hot dogs, chips and drinks. Free fun activities at the church. Set up begins at 4 p.m.
Idaville: Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 – 9 p.m.
Monon: Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 – 7 p.m.
Monticello: Trick or Treat Saturday, Nov. 1, 6 – 8 p.m. S.O.M.A. Trunk or Treat will be Saturday, Nov. 1, 3 – 5 p.m. in the parking lot behind the post office. Monticello 1st Baptist Church is hosting a Trunk or Treat the same day from 5 – 7 p.m. in the church parking lot and pavilion.
Reynolds: Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 – 8 p.m.
Wolcott: Trick or Treat is Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 – 8 p.m. The town hall will offer hot dogs, hot chocolate, candy and more during those hours. Wolcott Main Street, Bank of Wolcott and Wolcott Library are hosting a Halloween Party at the Bank of Wolcott including a costume contest, walking tacos, cookies, apple cider and balloons.
Remington: Trick or Treat hours are Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Upcoming Monticello Parks Programs
Teen Crafts: Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m., at Bluestem Nature Center. Come learn how to craft with pinecones! Do crafts with your friends in our beautiful parks!
Art in the Park-Fall Bluebird Watercolor: Thursday Oct. 23, at 6-8 p.m. at Bluestem Nature Center for adults. Joy will take you step by step in using technique to paint a fall bluebird watercolor. To register call Parks at 574-583-3983 or online at montiparks.recdesk.com. Cost $15.
Astronomy-Moon: Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Voigt Park parking lot off of South Street. Saturn and the moon are the main focus but we will see lots more! We will have telescopes and star maps.
Weed Wrangle: Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 4-8 p.m. at Altherr Nature Park, all ages welcome! Come learn about invasive species and why we need to remove them from our parks. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Bring your own water bottle, gloves, and loopers if you have them.

We will have a lovely time of songs, fingerplays, stories and play with our littlest patrons. It’s a great time for parents and caregivers to connect and get ideas for at home. There is so much we can learn together.
Lego League – October 27, 3:30 p.m.
Join us for Lego League! Kiddos will be provided lots of Lego pieces to create and build with! We will take their masterpieces and put them on display until our next meeting, where the fun begins all over again.
Internet Safety, Ethics, and Identifying Credible Sources with Purdue Extension – October 28, 6 p.m.
Join us for an engaging and practical class on staying safe and smart online. We’ll cover essential topics including internet safety, how to spot and avoid impersonation scams, protecting yourself from malware, creating strong passwords, recognizing credible sources, and practicing good digital ethics. Whether you’re a beginner or just want to sharpen your online skills, this class will give you the tools to navigate the digital world with confidence.

Medicare 101 – October 29, 6 p.m. at White County Council on Aging
Significant changes are coming to Medicare in 2026! Do you know what they are? Come to a free educational presentation at the library* to find out, and to get the answers you need to your other Medicare questions, as well! (*location NOT at the library! Check address.)
This program is for anyone already on Medicare, anyone approaching Medicare age (turning 65), any spouses and/or children of those on Medicare who help make these types of decisions, and anyone under 65 who is on disability and is or will be receiving Medicare benefits as well.
Information covered will include: How can some qualify to have a lower Part B premium, or “Extra Help” paying for their prescriptions and/or Part D premiums? How and when can or should I enroll in Medicare? What are “Special Enrollment Periods” and why do some qualify to have these all year long? What does Medicare cover, what doesn’t it cover, and what might be your potential out-of-pocket exposure? What to consider when choosing Supplements, Medicare Advantage plans and Part D Prescription Coverage, as well as cost saving strategies for the years ahead. (The Medicare Annual Enrollment period is October 15 – December 7, each year)
