Free Community Fourth of July Picnic!
Public invited to American Legion Post 81, 405 East Washington Street, Monticello, (at the east end of the US 24 / Washington Street bridge going out of town towards Logansport) is hosting a free Fourth of July Community Picnic on Friday, July 4, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, chips, cookies, iced tea, lemonade, water and soft drinks served. There will be a DJ, bounce house, canoe rides, games, etc. Come join in the fun, fellowship and food!
12th Annual Brookston Fire and Lights Parade
The 12th Annual Brookston Fire and Lights Parade will be held July 5 at 4 p.m. starting and ending at the old fire station. No preregistration is required. There is a $10 entry fee per vehicle or float. All vehicles, floats, ATVs, golf carts, tractors, wagons, classic cars, teams, groups, etc. are welcome. Plan to be at the old fire station starting at 3 p.m. but no later than 3:30 p.m. for registration the day of the parade. Email BrookstonFire@yahoo.com for questions and information. The parade route will follow 4th St. west, the south on S. South St., east on 8th St., south on S. Wood St., east on E. 11th St. to S. Brackney St. and back north to the fire station. Please remove vehicles from the parade route by 3:30 p.m. on July 5.
Heart Fellowship July meeting
The Heart Fellowship of the First Presbyterian Church, a group of seniors who enjoy worship, fellowship and becoming more informed will have their monthly meeting at the 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at the church. Hillary Hawkins will present a program on “Sleep and why it matters.” The program should be over at 1 p.m. If you are employed, please

Monticello Union Twp Public Library programs Teen Summer Reading: Paint Chip Poetry – July 2, 2 p.m. at Bluestem Nature Center
Sometimes we just need a break. Join us for this program as we take a minute to relax. We will have a variety of coloring pages for you to choose from, along with snacks and some calming music!

Monticello Parks Department July Programs 2025 POP Club
is sponsored by the Farmers Market, Library and Parks. July dates are July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Kids join free at the Tuesday Farmers Market at 127 N Main St. (Andrea Roller Photography) any time between 5 and 7 p.m. and learn about healthy eating and active living.
Bug Safari for students, preschool to 2nd grade with a parent, meets Tuesday, July 1, 15 and 29. Meet at the Central Pavilion in City Park from 10-11a.m. for a fun filled outdoor endeavor. Materials fee $3. Please register at Parks 574-583-3983 or online at montiparks.recdesk.com.
Family Gardening Lessons are programs to promote gardening by learning from other gardeners. This program is sponsored by the Monticello Parks and Soil and Water Conservation District. We will meet Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. at the new row garden at Bluestem Nature Center. Attendees will learn care and harvest of crops. Everyone is welcome. Dates in July are July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Snap, Crackel, Pop, for students in third to eighth grade, will teach da little science and have a little fun!
