Twin Lakes moves on to sectional championship game after win over Peru



 

 

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Twin Lakes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Peru Tigers 42-28. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Twin Lakes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Brummett, who rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one TD. Brummett also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Cooper Dold was another key signal caller, throwing for 166 yards and three TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes.

Twin Lakes’ defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Peyton Houchen, Colton Robertson, and Brady Bixler, who each picked up one sack apiece. Matthew (Chewie) Walters was another major factor on D, making 19 total tackles.

 

 

Twin Lakes’ win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
