TC School Board meet for Ratification Public Meeting and regular meeting


 Tri-County School Board

November 10, 2025

The following topics were covered:

Mr. Kilmer asked if there were any comments over the Master Teacher Contract. Hearing none, Mr. Kilmer closed the Ratification Public Meeting.

Mr. Kilmer then opened the Regular Board Meeting.

Mr. Rudy Taulman presented the Jr. High School Students of the Month: Elise Carney, 7th, and Laramie Suitors 8th

Mr. McCracken presented the high school Students of the Month: Spanish II: Adalynn Demerly; Business: Joel Lehman; Math: Emma Rainey; Social Studies: Madilyn Nevitt; Fine Arts (Choir): Emily DeBlase; Science: Addison and Avery Nagel; PE: Abby Armstrong.

Students of the Month from Mrs. Cynthia McQuinn’s 4th grade class at TCI: Bailey Illingworth and Jaxson Goodwin.

Students of the Month from Mrs. Abby Geib’s 4th grade class at TCI: Serenity Janson and Larson Hensler.

Students of the Month from Mrs. Bryant’s 1st grade class at TCP: Shelby Baer and Ian Ramirez Marquelli.

Under visitor comments, Erin Grimes spoke to the board in regards to the varsity volleyball season with Coach McKinney. Mrs. Tara Dahlenburg read an impact statement written by a volleyball player to the board. Mrs. Morgan Gretencord also read an impact statement written by a volleyball player to the board. Ella Anderson read her own impact statement to the school board over her personal experience with volleyball for this year’s season with Coach McKinney.

Under monthly reports, Chief Page gave his school resource officer report. He also reported to the board that members of the Tippecanoe County High Crimes Unit had three different sessions with students and parents to discuss internet safety along with K-9 Roger.

McCracken and Page attended ALICE (active shooter response training program) Instructor Training in Lafayette. With this training they will be able to empower students and staff to survive in the face of violence. Chief Page also has a Defensive Tactics training coming up as well as Crisis Management for School- Based Incidents.

Superintendent Patrick Culp gave an update on construction. He stated that TCI is completed, TCP is near completion and the high school still needs to have a punch list completed. TCP and the high school will have open houses. Tri-County Primary’s was Monday, November 17. Tri- County Jr/Sr High Schools’ will be Monday, December 1, between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Under Board Committee reports, Mrs. Overbeck reminded the board that it is time for the semiannual review for Superintendent Culp. Mrs. Overbeck also reported to the board about the FACS advisory meeting. Mrs. Suitors reported on the Remington Park Board meeting. Mr. Gerber discussed the need for a preliminary meeting to discuss the annual school board retreat. Gerber reported that he attended the Regional ISBA School board meeting.

Ms. Hall reported to the board right before fall break, TCP had parent-teacher conferences that were very well attended. Hall thanked the corporation for providing dinner that evening. They had a wonderful assembly from Tim Hannig with the Pro Kid Show. TCP students bussed over to TCI for the convo. Tim spoke to the elementary students about character education and had a very engaging show for our students. Hall thanked the PTO for sponsoring the event and bringing this opportunity to our students.

In October, TCP also had vision screenings for students by volunteers from the Lion’s Club as well as a visit from School Smiles. Hall extended her appreciation to the nurses for arranging for these services and bringing them to their buildings so families have easier access to them for the students. The vision screenings do help them catch students who need glasses, and several families take advantage of the mobile dentist.

For Veteran’s Day, TCP had local veterans joining them for a High Five-Tuesday and then students and staff joined them outside for their usual program after announcements. Hall thanked the Remington Auxiliary and veterans for joining TCP.

Mrs. Pearson reported to the board that TCP and TCI were in one building this year for Parent Teacher Conferences, and they were well attended. Pearson thanked Michele Bullington and Wendy Kleist for getting all of that set up. Right now, TCI has 6th Grade Basketball, Spell Bowl, Robotics, and Student Council that are very active in preparing for their respective activities. The Spell Bowl team was traveling to a competition in Logansport on Nov. 17. Cadet Teachers from the high school will be coming over once a week, starting the following week.

TCI students and staff attended the Veterans Day program put on by the Wolcott Main Street Committee at the Wolcott House at 10 a.m. TCI appreciates them putting all that together every year and allowing them to attend!

TCI celebrated National Young Readers’ Week with some dress-up days. Pearson invites everyone to the Middle School Band and Choir Christmas Concert on December 10, at 6:30 p.m., and the Elementary Christmas Program is on December 11, at 1 p.m. Both events are in the main gym at the junior/senior high school. The students and teachers have already been working hard and would love for you to come support them.

Mr. Haskins reported to the board that the first ILEARN checkpoint was completed in both ELA and math. The second checkpoint opened on Nov. 17 and closes on Feb. 6, 2026.

Students attended a presentation on responsible internet use on Monday. Thanks to Officer Page for arranging the event! Tuesday, Nov. 11., at 11 a.m., the junior/senior high school had their Veterans Day program. Lunch was provided by culinary class, and they expected around 50 local veterans to attend.

The junior high and high school band and choir concert is Wednesday, December 10, in the main gym at 6:30pm. Friday, November 21, was Substitute Appreciation Day. Tri-County has a great group of individuals that they are fortunate to have working with the students. Haskins thanked Mrs. Anderson for coordinating subs in the buildings.

Winter sports have begun for the junior/senior high school: Varsity Girls Basketball won their first game at Pioneer on Saturday. Girls Wrestling started at Delphi on Saturday. Varsity Boys Basketball started practice. Junior high boys also have started practice and have started games on November 11.

Haskins attended an AI Conference at Purdue and is looking forward to being a part of developing a vision for the use of AI within the corporation. Also looking forward to working with the board, staff and students. Haskins continues to work with Mr. Sharp on their ICC program. Their goal is to have it available to next year’s junior class. Lastly, Haskins will be taking a group of 8th graders to Caterpillar in Lafayette.

The board approved the Master Teacher Contract.

The board approved the 2026 Board meeting dates and times.

The board approved to transfer funds from one major budget classification to another.

The board approved the resignation of Alivia Cox, HS Life Skills IA.

Under the Superintendent’s Report, Culp informed the board the Affordable Care Act requires specific action from school corporations. Recently Mrs. Dreblow and he met with Jim Hamilton to discuss the ACA impact on Tri-County.

Culp reminded the board that during the January organizational meeting, board committee assignments will be determined. He presented them with the current board committee assignments for review until January.

Culp informed the board that Tri-County Primary and Tri-County Jr/Sr High School are hosting open houses for the community to come and tour the recently completed updates, renovations and improvements. Tri-County Primary’s Open House was Monday, November 17. Tri-County Jr/Sr High School’s Open House was Monday, December 1.

Culp informed the board that Monica Dyke, Tri-County’s Family Engagement Liaison, is working with the local food pantry to help provide food to Tri-County families whose SNAP benefits have been delayed due to the government shutdown. Thank you to Monica and the Remington Food Pantry for helping out our Tri-County families in need!

Next board meeting will be December 8, 2025.
