Santa to visit Monticello Library

Santa arrives at the Monticello-Union Township Library on Dec. 8 at 5 p.m.

Santa will be making his annual appearance in the Children’s Room of the library to visit with families. Not only can you visit with Santa and take your picture with him, but there will be games and activities in the program room and ornamentmaking at the north window.

Other upcoming events are:

LEGO League – Dec. 5, at 3:30 p.m.: LEGO League is an event where children can get creative and build with Lego pieces. Creations will be on display at the library until the next Lego League meeting.

Insurance Inquiries – Dec. 5, at 5 p.m.: Do you have questions about the 3 M’s (Medicare, Marketplace, or Medicaid) Insurance? Are you receiving a lot of calls from people about insurance, and you wonder how they got your phone number? Is health insurance confusing?

Visit the library and talk to one of the local Insurance Navigators – they are not agents and do not charge a fee for their service. They can help simplify the process and help individuals decide the best option for their families.

Medicare Open Enrollment is Oct. 15- Dec. 7. SHIP Counselors offer free and impartial assistance with Medicare enrollment, choosing drug plans, and explaining Medicare Advantage and Supplements.

Marketplace Open Enrollment is Nov. 1 – Dec. 15. Insurance Navigators assist with explaining options for coverage, Marketplace applications, and enrollment into Marketplace insurance plans.

Knitting and Crocheting Together – Dec. 5, at 3 p.m.: Join the library for conversation and company while working on fiber arts projects. Knitting needles can be provided if needed.

S.T.E.M. Tuesday Club – Dec. 6, at 3 p.m.: STEM Club invites kids in grades K-5 to use their imagination and creativity to make unique creations out of cardboard, Littlebits, Legos, and more.

Creative Writing Club – Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.: Join the library in a collaborative workspace where members can write, share ideas, and provide feedback for each other’s work. This program is open to all skill levels. Toddler and Baby Storytime – Dec. 7, at 10 a.m.: Participate in a time of songs, fingerplays, and of course, stories with the library’s littlest patrons. It’s a great time for parents and caregivers to connect and get ideas for at home.

Ugly Sweater Creation (Teen Program) – Dec. 7, at 3 p.m.: No need for great artistic skills in this teen craft! In this contest, the ugliest sweater wins!

Preschool Storytime – Dec. 8, at 10 a.m.: This storytime is just for the preschool set (ages 3-5) Participants will have lots of fun as they get ready for going to school.

Friends of The Library Winter Book and Art Sale – Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Friends of The Library will be at the library with their winter book sale along with artisans and creators with their artwork and wares available to buy or browse. Stop by the library, fill a bag with books, and find unique items for the gifting season.
