Sol Siburcrist wrestles a tough South Bend Riley wrestler to win the championship in his weight class at the Twin Lakes Invite.
North White Vikings competed in the Twin Lakes Invite on Saturday. Coming in with the smallest team, they had a few highlights on the day. The team has consistently produced champs at the tournament and this year proved the same.
Alex Van Doren dominated his way to the finals and finished even more dominant with a 17-0 championship, leaving no question on who is better at the weight.

Koda Hubbard placed fourth with his first showing at the tournament. The team placed 14th out of 16 teams.
“I feel we competed as expected for the most part. The guys battled sickness all week but competed well. It’s about toughness. We talk a lot about being physically tough, but being mentally tough is even more important at times, said Coach Dennis Siburcrist. “Koda Hubbard is up a heavier weight and took a step in the right direction today. I am very pleased with what I saw from him today. His mindset is looking good right now.

“Alex Van Doren keeps looking better every week. That comes down to having the right guys in the room as partners. He and Sol continue to help each other. Sol Siburcrist was finally pushed into the second half of a match during the finals for the first time this year. He needed that. Being able to do that after a tough week was worth it in the end. I’m excited about seeing even more progress with the team. We are a young team. We will continue to develop our skills and toughness.”
