Hunt a Little Feed A lot shatters records with donation

The 14th annual Hunt a Little Feed A lot program has shattered records for its 2022 campaign to help White County families in need.

The program, which provides an avenue for hunters to donate extra deer meat from hunting to the White County Food Pantry, raised $12,700 this year, topping last year’s donations by more than $1,000.

Since its inception in 2009, the program has raised more than $100,984.

Habitat adds work days to build site

Habitat House has added six more work days at their Dewey Street site.

Dinner planned at Yeoman Church

The Yeoman Methodist Church, 10892 W 875 N, Monticello, will have a beef and noodle/chicken and noodles dinner on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Carry Out dinners will be available. The cost is $8 per meal.

Civic Preservation Society to meet

The Monon Civic Preservation Society will meet on Monday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m., in the Civic Center. The discussion will be about plans to serve the November Chamber lunch, the Christmas Bazaar, and theatre updates. Everyone interested in Monon’s history and heritage is welcome to attend.

Bazaar planned in Wolcott

The second annual Holiday Bazaar by the Wolcott Main Street will be held on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wolcott Intermediate gym, 200 W. North St.

The bazaar will feature arts and crafts, gifts, food, and more. Proceeds from the bazaar will go toward the Tri- County Backpack program.

Reindeer Den Craft and vendor event set in Chalmers

Discovering H.A.N.D.S. Preschool is hosting its annual fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to Noon, at Chalmers Community Church.

There will be 17 craft booths and vendors from the area. Guests can also shop the pantry of homemade goodies and preserves.

There will be free childcare in the preschool room while parents shop, along with free donuts and drinks for everyone.

Door prizes will be announced every 15 minutes and there will be a Pampered Chef Raffle as well.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available from 10 a.m. until Noon. Visitors can take their own pictures. All proceeds go back to the preschool.

Discovering H.A.N.D.S. Preschool is located at the Chalmers Community Church, 103 N. Second St., Chalmers.

America Legion open for dining

American Legion Post 81 located on East Washington Street in Monticello is open to the public on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Dining hours are 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday and 5-7 p.m. on Fridays.

The regular menu is available both nights with a special meal offered every Friday night.

The specials for November are Pork Loin, Nov. 11; and all-you-can-eat fish fry, Nov. 18.

Veterans will eat free on Nov. 11 (Veterans’ Day).

The Legion will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The kitchen will be closed Friday, Nov. 25.

Chair exercise class offered at church

First Presbyterian Church of Monticello invites the community to a chair exercise class at the church, 104 N. Illinois St., on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m.

Fish Fry planned at American Legion

American Legion Post 81, Monticello, is hosting an allyou can-eat fish fry on Friday, Nov. 18, from 5-7 p.m. The dinner is open to the public.

The Post is located at 405 East Washington St., off of U.S. 24 at the east end of the Washington Street bridge.

The meal will consist of fish, French fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under. Dine-in or carry-out is available. All proceeds go to assist veterans, service personnel, and the various programs of the American Legion.

The AYCE Fish Fry is being held on the third Friday of this month, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The kitchen will be closed on Nov. 25, the Friday following Thanksgiving.

Legion plans bazaar

A Holiday Bazaar will be hosted on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by American Legion Post #81 in Monticello.

More than a dozen vendors will have gifts for Christmas. The Auxiliary will serve lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The Legion is located at 405 E. Washington St.

Local pastors to meet for prayer

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., pastors of local churches will gather at the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello, 105 N. Illinois St., to give thanks for their blessings. All are welcome.
