Baked Steak Supper planned for Sept. 10

Yeoman United Methodist Church, 10892 West 875 North, Monticello, will have a baked steak supper on Sept. 10, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The cost of the meal is $10 per dinner.

Fish Fry planned for Aug. 26

American Legion Post 81, Monticello, is hosting an all-you-can-eat fish fry on Friday, Aug. 26, from 5-7 p.m. The dinner is open to the public.

The Post is located at 405 East Washington Street, right off of U.S. 24 at the east end of the Washington Street bridge.

The meal will consist of fish, French fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Children aged 10 and under are admitted for free.

Eat-in or carry-out is available. All proceeds go to assist veterans, service personnel, and the various programs of the American Legion.

America Legion open for dining

The American Legion is open to the public on Thursday and Friday evenings. There is a special each night in addition to the regular menu.

The hours on Thursday night are 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Friday night hours are 5-7 p.m.

On Friday evenings the salad bar is also available from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $10 for all you can eat and $7 for one trip. One trip with a meal is $4.

Chair exercise class offered

First Presbyterian Church of Monticello invites the community to a chair exercise class at the church, 104 N. Illinois St., on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m.

Blood Drive at Christian Church

Monticello Christian Church will have a blood drive on Friday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 105 Gordon Road. Area hospitals are counting on receiving 20 units of blood from the generous donors of Monticello, according to a news release.
