Misses Evelyn Culp and Leona Anderson are taking nurses training at Ball Memorial Hospital in Anderson, Indiana.

September 13, 1945

Pvt. Louis Haysley, prisoner of the Japanese since the fall of Corregidor three years ago, writes that he is okay.

MSgt. Ralph Wood is now stationed on Okinawa.

Leonard Cooley has been installed as commander of the Eugene Hughes Legion post.

September 15, 1955

The Glotzbach Jewelry Store is celebrating its first anniversary this week with a big anniversary sale lasting three days only; today, Friday and Saturday.

Just three years ago the Monon Trailer & Body Manufacturing Company was incorporated and opened up for business in the old Kruger Dairy plant building in the southeast part of town.

Mr. and Mrs. John E. Conn have received word that their son, SP-3 Thomas R. Conn, will leave Frankfurt, Germany, Sept. 22, by plane and will land at an Air Force Base in New York. From there, he will take a plane to Ft. Sheridan, Ill., where he will receive his discharge.

September 16, 1965

Students in grades 1 and 5 were given the tuberculosis Tine Test Monday in the Reynolds and Buffalo elementary schools. Results of the test will be read Thursday.

Clarence Orr told the News this week that several pieces of machinery for the sewing factory have been set in place in the room formerly occupied by Formfit and that some of the machines have been hooked up and ready to run.

September 11, 1975

The Building Trades class of North White High School, for their project this year, are building a house on Holly St. in Monon.

September 12, 1985

Roy Sandefur, local barber for several years, has retired and sold his shop to Tom Rodehan. Tom took over the shop on Tuesday morning.

Edgar L. Werner Jr., son of Florence E. Werner of Monon, has been promoted in the US Air Force to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

Army Private Donald R. Johns Jr., son of Donald and Roberta J. Johns, RR 2, Francesville, has completed basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama.

September 13, 1995

The North White Varsity football team is going to the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Saturday Sept. 23.

Governor Mitch Daniels announces that Reynolds has become the first BioTown, USA and has pledged help for the community in converting to E85 fuels.

Sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, two runner rugs from inside the lobby at the Monon Post Office were stolen.

September 16, 2015

The first Movie Mania of the school year will be Friday, Sept. 25, in the North White High School auditorium. Dave and Dick Stimmel will purchase the concession items.
