June 28, 1935

Chester Reprogle and Hubert Howard are spending this week at Camp Tecumseh.

June 29, 1945

New employees at the Monon Crusher include: Ludd Clark, Peter Koekenberg, Robert DeVault, Frank DeVault, Luther Robinson, Lloyd Simmons and Ray Maple. Sgt. Cliff Cooley is stationed near Marseilles, France. William Meredith, Robert Sullivan and Donald Adams passed their pre-induction examinations and have been accepted for the service.

June 30, 1955

Ray D. Manis, 27 year old native of Culver, has signed a contract with Trustee Grant Long to become coach of the Monon High School for the 1955-56 school year. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Goble have received word that their son Don arrived in Germany on June 22nd.

July 1, 1965

The Formfit Company will complete the closing down of its Monon plant next Tuesday or Wednesday. Monon police warn that children must not ride bikes on the downtown sidewalks. Complaints have been made about this, especially in the area of the Post Office. There will be a queen contest and crowning ceremony during the annual Monon Crazy Days, July 16 and 17. A Monon businessman has contributed the prize money and a beautiful crown for the event. The graduating class of 1950 held a reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Gene McKinley Sunday. Fred H. Mosher, Machinist Mate 3rd class in the Navy who has been based at Naples, Italy, for the past year, left his ship on Monday of this week when the ship set sail for Crete.

June 24, 1975

Managers Max Gene McKinley wish to announce the grand opening of a new camping area locally known as Trasher’s Woods or Thrasher’s Gravel Pit, 3 miles east of Monon on St. Road 16.

June 27, 1985

The Summer Recreation Program at the Monon Park will start on July 2. Rev. John L. Hall, an eight-year resident of the community has been appointed full-time iterim of the First Baptist Church.

June 28, 1995

(From photo not used here) Above are employees of Krintz Brothers Construction, working to remove the old steps from the front of Town Hall. Beaver Dam Inn in White County is among the best, unique and favorite restaurants in the state, according to local municipal officials who nominated them for a new statewide restaurant guide.

As usual, several new laws will go into effect July 1, that will affect the citizens of Indiana…..(ie) Schools will be required to have an American flag in every classroom and offer daily moments of silence and an opportunity for students to voluntarily recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Schools must also draft policies to identify bullying.

July 1, 2015

The water tower that has served the Reynolds community since the early 1940’s was torn down Friday. A new water tower will be constructed by the end of the year.
