The Post Office safe at Wolcott was looted Friday night and $400 in stamps and money was carried away. The cyclone near McCoysburg Saturday night did a great deal of damage. There will be preaching at Nauvoo School May 30.
May 17, 1935
Memorial Day exercises will be held at the school with the American Legion in charge. Joe Price’s Model T Ford rolled over Saturday night.
May 18, 1945
Cpl. Zora Garwood of Jackson, Miss., arrived here Sunday for a two week furlough. Thad Hanway, who is with the United States Rubber C.o at Mishawaka, spent the weekend in Monon. Lt. Howard Boomershine, in command of a Navy gun crew, left New York recently. Sgt. Ronald Rush has been released from a German prison camp.

By signing his name to a brief note (Kindly accept my resignation as principal of the Monon Township Public Schools effective at the close of the current term.) to Trustee Grant Long, Baird F. Cox last weekend ended an 8-year term as principal of the Monon school and a nearly 40-year career as a teacher. Crowned King and Queen of the Junior Prom were Seniors Melvin Garling and Carol Winner.

Carol Cook, North White Senior and a first year student in the shorthand class, took five minutes of dictation at an average of 140 words per minute and transcribed (typed) her notes with 97% accuracy in a test Tuesday. Wilbur Burks has replaced Eldo Norman as one of the school janitors in Monon. Darrel Erb of Francesville was run over by a tractor Monday and his pelvis was broken in three places. Henry Schickendaz, who lives with his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Howard Jr., and family, is happy with a new Kodak Instamatic camera he won in a Readers Digest Sweepstakes. He won his prize by signing a mailing in a numbered card he found in his magazine.

Pamela Jo Buschman and Janice Sue Fleck are co-valedictorians of the 1975 graduation class at North White High School. These two students tied for top academic honors.
May 16, 1985
At the North White School Board meeting last week it was announced that Jim Davis, presently serving as athletic director and assistant principal would return to the classroom next year as a teacher and coach instead of the assistant principal and athletic director. On Wednesday, May 8, Dean Norman assisted Ellen Norman and Vernice Rausch in planting a Red Maple tree at the Monon Caboose Park in downtown Monon.

Phyllis Allen of Reynolds, plans to retire from her duties as a school bus driver for the North White School Corporation, at the end of the summer school session, after 41 years of driving.

North White High School’s Valedictorian for the 2004-05 school year is Louis Cole Hickman, son of Kerry and Diana Hickman of Burnettsville. This year’s Salutatorian at North White High School is Margaret Buschman, daughter of Charles and Maureen Buschman of Reynolds.

The students of North White High School social studies teacher Todd Shriver spoke on Monday via Facetime with Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who starred as “Theo Huxtable” on the 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show.
