The public schools of Monon township will begin next Monday with the list of teachers as follows: at McBee, Russel Gordon: Duvall, Ersal Foster: Johnson, Eva Crumbo; Lee, Irene Gray: Wilson, Brook Morris; Tile Mill, T S Cowger and Clayton, Opal McDonald.

Phillip Gutwein of Francesville purchased the B&H building for sales and service. Russel Templeton entered Fort Wayne Business College Monday.
September 1, 1944
Capt. and Mrs. Wayne Houser returned to Monon Wednesday after the Doctor had been in the Army for the past two years. The Monon Chapel church is being remodeled. Those serving on the finance committee are: Mrs Wm. Long, Mrs Loyd Thrasher, Mrs Earl Jewett, Mrs John Aebi and True Culp.
September 2, 1954
The White County Tuberculosis Association is sponsoring Patch Tests for TB in all schools of the county, except the Monticello school, tomorrow. The Howard Implement Co. this week announces a grand prize drawing to be held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 11, with a Skelgas range as the grand prize. A donkey ballgame, sponsored by the Monon Boy Scouts will be held at the park this Saturday evening. Mrs Carl F Miller, 59, of Reynolds, who had been critically ill for some time with lockjaw, passed away at St. Elizabeth hospital last Wednesday of last week. Mrs Miller suffered a scratch on her leg early in July while at work at her farm home.
September 3, 1964 Mr and Mrs Richard (Dick) Hughes completed a deal Monday to purchase the Heimlich HardwarestorefromMrandMrsHW(Wally)Heimlich. The Monon Bank, organized as a locally owned bank, was merged into the State and Savings Bank of Monticello Tuesday. In return for your patronage this summer season the management of Indiana Beach is happy to announce that Wednesday and Friday, September 2 and 4, have been set aside as appreciation day for residents of White County. Dick Halleman and his Orchestra will be playing a free dance for the adults and their children, that is old standards only, in the new ballroom and Skyroom Lounge. Mr and Mrs Don Harringan were honored with an old-fashioned belling Wednesday night of last week while on their honeymoon at the George Morehead farm. Mrs Harringan is the former Ruth Ann Morehead of Oak Lawn, Ill.

Sunday, August 25, 1974 was declared Helen Stiller day at the First Baptist Church of Monon. Helen was honored for more than 30 years of faithful service. She has volunteered her musical talents when needed at almost the last minute. Madison–Larry Wiley, Monon Branch State & Savings, Monon, Ind is among 1,652 Students bankers from 42 states, the District of Columbia, and several foreign nations who have just completed the annual two-week residence session of the 30th annual Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison August 4-17.

The White County Clerk’s office has removed 1099 names from the list of White County registered voters. The Clerk’s office under state law is required to purge the voter registration list of non- voters every two years. Dorothy Thacker, former Monon resident and mother of Jo Ann Johns, had three photos on display in the exhibit in the Home and Family Arts building at the Indiana State Fair. Also she took a fourth place award in the Senior Citizens photo contest.

September 3, 2014 The North White Lady Vikings won the first cross country team championship in school history on Saturday. Members of the North White School Board aren’t waiting for a Facebook challenge. They’re challenging themselves—to the ice-bucket challenge to raise funds for ALS research.
