1. What was this building used for and where is it located? 2. What were the four grocery stores in Monon in the 1950s?

1. This building was supposedly a cigar factory and located behind a home on West Broadway in Monticello, according to a local resident. While the name of the factory is unknown, there were cigar stores in Monticello in the early 1900s. The Anheier Brothers owned one from about 1914 to 1925 at 124 N. Main Street and H.A. Douglass owned one at 206 N. Main Street from about 1917 to 1921.

2. The four grocery stores located in Monon in the 1950s included A&P, IGA, Marsh Foodliners and the South Side Grocery.
