Frontier Superintendent Fred Unsicker joins Anna Mikels as she receives her Excellence in Education award from White County Economic Development President Randy Strasser.
Although Sarah Turner and Anna Mikels were unable to attend this year’s White County Economic Development Annual Meeting, they still wanted to make sure the teachers felt the appreciation they so deeply deserves.
On June 9, Turner and Mikels were invited to the monthly board meeting, where Turner was joined by Superintendent Patrick Culp, and Mikels was joined by Superintendent Fred Unsicker, Economic Development proudly honored them with the Excellence in Education award.
A dedicated Title I Math teacher at Tri-County, Turner stepped up in a big way during the second semester of the 2024–2025 school year. When a staffing gap left a third-grade classroom without a qualified replacement, she seamlessly took on the role, managing both her Title I students and new classroom with incredible flexibility, professionalism, and heart.
Mikels exemplifies true dedication and service. She goes above and beyond for her special education students while also serving as a vital member of the behavior team, union building representative, and coach at Frontier. As a devoted mother of three Frontier students, she leads by example, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic that consistently goes beyond the classroom.
