Barbara Kay Key, 86, of
Monticello, passed away on
Monday, May 26, 2025 at
Monticello Healthcare.
She was born on May 16, 1939 in Darlington, IN to the late Ernest and Dorothy (Smith) Hampton. On March 20, 1965, she married Kenneth D. Key at the Monticello United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2006.
Barbara was a homemaker and cleaned homes. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting, cross stitch, quilting, crocheting, word search puzzles, sewing and crafts. She loved rhubarb pie and McDonald’s coffee and quarter pounders with cheese.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Rodney) Jenkins of DePauw; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Williams; brothers, Gerry, Donald and Richard Hampton; sisters, Marilyn Johnson, Shirley Tucker, Helen Hahn, Rosemary Preston and Ilene Flaughty.
Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm at Springer-Voorhis- Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
